授業の目的、または到達目標
To explore methods of classroom language tests, to examine standardized languages tests, to design tests for different purposes, and to interpret test results.
授業の概要
In reviewing the changes in language testing theory, this course examines some standardized tests currently in use (e.g. TOEIC). Students will also prepare English tests as they learn methodologies incorporating testing objectives, methods, and interpreting results. The course also includes discussions on the strengths and weaknesses of question types often used in tests, the minimum necessary conditions for creating a good test, points that need to be taken into account when preparing a test, and analysis methods used for test results.

準備学習
- Students are expected to fully read assigned chapters and be ready for discussions before each class. They are also asked to spend time on item writing at home.

期末試験は、持ち込み不可の論述形式。試験では、単なる知識の羅列ではなく、自分の考えをまじえ、筋道立てて文章を組み立てることが求められる。出席そのものは、評価に加えない。
