To learn theoretical and concrete issues in the field of multicultural education in relation to globalization

授業の概要

Students learn multicultural education in the context of globalization. The course first explores the meaning of globalization and various aspects and debates concerning culture， particularly the problems of cultural essentialism which penetrates the debates. Then， by linking the concepts of international and intercultural understandings， students attempt to consider multicultural education， which is the most promising area in guiding a multicultural society， but do so within their own context.

• Lectures， discussions， presentations， reports， and an essay.

準備学習

• Students are required to read assigned readings and to prepare to express their own understandings and opinions towards the issues in class.
