Course Description
First student learn how a person becomes a refugee, what life is like in various refugee situations, the activities of UNHCR, INGO’s, and other donors, as well as Japan’s role abroad and refugee policy. We will then switch to special refugee situations, like Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, and environmental refugee issues. Students are required to discuss the possibility of prevention and especially the issues of education and repratriation of refugees.
