授業の目的、または到達目標
To introduce a critical analysis to compare the cultures and societies through a body of literature called Nihonjinron ( a systematic assertion of Japanese society and culture).
授業の概要
This course will explore the carious discourses found in Nihonjinron. They will be examined from three aspects, a product of overgeneralization from limited expmples or episodes, a comparison with a Specific idealized image of America, and an assertion based on a homogeneous approach which regard Japanese as monolithic in terms of culture and society.
