To learn how to present, support, elicit and respond to personal opinions and to participate in well-organized group discussions
授業の概要
The course is designed to help students organize and present information orally. All discussion practice is linked to the IU topics. Students watch video lectures, learn specific vocabulary and conversation strategies, and participate in communicative activities to improve their ability to respond to and build upon their own ideas and those of other speakers. Students are encouraged to make regular reports about news items, summarize news reports and stories, and express their opinions about current events. Students research and cooperate with each other to make various kinds of presentations in unit projects.

- Discussion and presentations related to IU topics in Units 3 and 4.
準備学習
- Students should study 2-3 hours a week outside of class. Outside study skills and activities include: practicing conversational management skills; preparing for in-class discussion, reading news stories or watching TV news; researching unit topics in the library or on the internet; making notes, reviewing vocabulary, and preparing group presentations.
